The Senses of Fall: A Few Tasty Drinks & Sights

What reminds you of Autumn?
What makes you love, or hate (if anyone could), the season?

Fall is my favorite season. It means cool crisp air that makes your skin come alive. It means crunchy leaves, boots, cuddling, tea, and jackets/blankets. Unfortunately for me it also means hectic days of seeing little sun, and this year to top things of I am adding wedding planning to my list of fall things to do! But, that doesn’t hinder my enjoying the season. MOST IMPORTANTLY Fall means pumpkin and cinnamon Everything.

Since I am short on time and posting on my lunch hour, I decided to capture what my senses have experienced since fall started in photos. Enjoy!

The Tastes

Woodchuck Cider:   They have a great selection of limited release and private reserve ciders that are available throughout the seasons. Past years I haven’t been too successful on getting my hands on the fall flavors but this year I acted fast and got myself the Private Reserve Pumpkin Cider and the Limited Release Fall Cider. They are both SO GOOD! Seriously, it’s like tasting fall with every sip. The pumpkin  is a bit on the sweet side, so doesn’t pair well with everything but it is delicious. The Fall cider is very bold, full of flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg. So far I’ve paired the pumpkin with shrimp chili as well as chocolate chip cookies and the Fall Cider with Salad and a cheese and cracker platter. Again, SO GOOD!

Dry Lavender Soda: For those of you who don’t know where I am located I live in New York, on Long Island specifically. The east end of long island has long been known for it’s farms, mostly producing corn and potatoes. In addition, there are at least two large lavender farms. Now, Lavender is my favorite scent and always has been since I remember. I love it, and I am one of the only weirdos I know who also loves eating it. I’ve made gluten free lavender biscuits in the past. Recently on a trip out east I stopped by a market place and found this baby:

That’s right. LAVENDER SODA. I got a bottle for fear that I might not like it because of the carbonation. I popped the cap, and… I literally cried. No joke, I cried. You could maybe blame it on the PMS but who cares, the care was instantaneously the car was full of lavender scent. Who wouldn’t cry if that was your favorite scent and you found it in a soda? I was in heaven. I usually gulp down my soda, but I savored this to the last drop and it was well worth it. In retrospect, I probably should have gotten the whole 4 pack (or the whole stock) seeing as it’s 32$ online for 24 bottles.

The Sights

The trip out east also warranted for some beautiful scenery, and a garlic eating contest. Here are some photos I wanted to share:

  1. Oh my! What a lovely post! You make me wish we had a Fall season in the south. It is back up to the high 80’s here. I just want to grab a sweater and some of that cider and go sit in the pumpkin patch!!
