**Note: I just found a bunch of reviews that had been lost in the shuffle of life transitions over the past year or so, but I wanted to share anyway. This is one of them.**
The Red Bicycle Coffee and Crepes, a chain of three restaurants located in Nashville Tennessee, has to be one of my top favorite restaurants as far as atmosphere is concerned. We visited the Germantown location on a trip down there in January 2014 and found a quaint, rather hipster-esque, establishment hidden behind an inconspicuous store front. The ordering counter is in the back of the store, and the place screams ‘community’ from it’s communal table running down the center and sides of the store to its phone booth library of free books to read and keep (if you leave a book of course, we we left and took a few). Needless to say, I loved the atmosphere and could really see myself making it a frequented spot if I lived in the area.
The added bonus of this place though is the availability of the elusive gluten free Crepe. Red Bicycle has a separate batter and area for gluten free crepes, and really puts effort into every product. The Crepes are HUGE and well priced, just look at these:
We shared a Florentine (eggs, cheese, mushroom, and spinach) and a Fields of Greens (lettuce, mozzarella, basil oil, onion, red pepper, tomato, and ranch). Where as the Florentine was a bit off balance with the amount of egg compared to other ingredients, the Fields of Green was well proportioned. Each was flavorful and full of bold fresh flavors. Unfortunately, neither of us were up for a drink when we visited so I can’t offer a review of their coffee BUT I can say they seemed to have quite a following as the place was packed.
