Mike and I LOVE chili. It’s so delicious and can be eaten many different ways. We eat it at least twice a month and I am sure we start eating it more as we have less time and need to warm ourselves up as the holidays approach. Given our schedules we’ve come to rely on a Chili kit, with some modifications, as the cheapest and easiest means of making ourselves some yummy chili. After trying several brands we have come to Love and rely on Wick Fowler’s Famous 2 Alarm Chili Kit.
To us this Chili Kit is everything you need to make a chili, it’s even a good base to start from if you want to get creative. This Kit comes complete with everything you would need for a good chili; including packets that contain red pepper, cumin/oregano, ground chili peppers, onion/garic, paprika, salt and corn masa flour for thickening. You can vary the taste and hotness of the chili by omitting various packets, most often the red pepper. As it cooks your mouth drolls just thinking about the spicy deliciousness that you’ll be able to eat shortly. The best part about it? It is amazingly cheap (usually around 2 dollars) and it is quick to make. It takes about 30 minutes total, the majority of the time being leaving it to
simmer and stirring occasionally.
Mike and I like to use this as a base for our chili, we get creative and have some fun with the kit. We’ve varied the meat, added beans, added chickpeas, stirred in other spices (curry powder for example) and topped it with cheese or cream cheese. I would say for me that the Turkey Chili with Chickpeas and added curry powder was my favorite. It’s perfect, fun and definitely hits the spot on a cold November night! I highly recommend checking this out if you have a hankering for chili!

Can’t say I condone the use of a chili mix. C’mon, make it from scratch!
As for the turkey – was it cut into chunks, or shredded?
It was shredded, very delicious. Haven’t tried it chunked but that could be interesting. We use the mix because we hardly have any time but I would LOVE to make it from scratch, maybe when school is out for winter session!
I prefer beef chili, but will give turkey another try when it gets colder. Haven’t decided yet to go with shredded or chunky, hence the question. Thanks!
