Locally Gluten Free: Strictly Gluten Free Now Open!

In November of last year I wrote this post about a local entrepreneur seeking to open an entirely gluten free supermarket. Steve and his wife Angela have been tirelessly working on making their dream a reality, with Steve having also become a board member of the Suffolk County Celiacs Support Group.Well, their work has paid off and they’ve finally opened! With their final location confirmed in East Northport, and all sales racks and products purchased they had their grand opening earlier this month from December 16th-18th. The hope is that in several weeks their ECommerce site will be open for business, allowing for the purchasing of items online!

While many places like Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Wild By Nature, and Stop and Shop now offer gluten free products which are clearly labeled and often separate we know sometimes these products are not actually gluten free even though they say so on the front. Therefore, we gluten avoiders still spend much time reading labels. At Strictly Gluten Free, Steve makes the effort of having companies confirm their gluten free certifications, even when items say they are gluten free. He holds items in the back and will not put them out for sale until he receives a confirmation, so you know that a product is 100% gluten free when you are buying it here.  It is a relief to walk into a store and KNOW you can come out with a delicious product.

Steven has done a great job at networking with food distributors, organizations, and companies to offer a wide variety of products. Many unique products are being offered here that I have not seen in other stores. Below are some highlights: 

Gluten Free Candies, Snacks, and lunch bags all in one convenient location! 

Excellent freezer isle complete with drinks, frozen meals, meats, sauces, ice creams, deserts and More! 

Gluten Free Make up, this is definitely a great product to offer as it’s so hard to come by. I know where I’ll be getting my wedding make-up, and seeing as I hardly wear make up the one brand if fine with me!

These vitamins are double certified by the company that products and sells them. There is a large variety and the prices are very reasonable!
Here are Steve, Angela, and their son. I want to thank them very much for their dedication to the gluten free community. Their store is sure to be a great asset to the local community, and I have no doubt it will continue to grow!

What was my favorite part? Gluten Free soft Pretzels by Tonya’s Kitchen that I ate too quickly to take a picture of! I have been craving them since going gluten free and this is the first I found it, Like I said they have Great products from our favorites to ones you never see!
