The Need for Gluten Free Food at Food Banks
As a social work student hunger and poverty are obviously always in my thoughts. During a discussion yesterday in regards to hunger in the United States I was astonished to hear about the high rated. Given that, I was also drawn to the high rates of people with CD and other food issues who likely need to find food support in the form of food pantries etc. Now, I have worked at pantries before and I could not fathom the stress an individual with a food illness etc. must face when there is hardly anything there for them. We need to make more of an effort to help those in our community who might face that challenge and This article gives you a great insight into what you can do to help! I am glad I am not the only one with this in my thoughts!

Women and Celiac Disease: A company helps spread awareness!
Now I will say that I absolutely love cheese, so last year when I went to a tulip festival in my hometown I was thrilled to find that there was a Cabot Cheese stand. Not only that but they had a gluten free flyer with a list of recipes and the guy manning the stand filled my bag up with samples to try! Spectacular! Now, this great company is helping to spread awareness about Celiac Disease as part of Celiac Disease Awareness Month and Women’s Health Week. In the fight against anything it is important to get companies involved! Read up and enjoy their recipes!

Genetic Modification to get rid of gliadins in Gluten
This paper highlights how researchers are attempting to modify wheat, rye and barely to get rid of the harmful product to individuals with CD, Gluten Intolerance etc. It’s a prospect but what do you guys think about modification to make things better or safer to eat?

Gluten Free Labeling Summit Outcome
I was searching for some articles about this but unfortunately found none so I present to you the link to another blogger! I wish there had been more coverage of this event but I am glad it went so well. Here is another Video. I look forward to seeing some changes to come, and hopefully being more involved!

  1. Wow. Thanks for the shout out!

We have so many Cabot fans and members of the extended Cabot family who are affected by gluten intolerance… we just want to do our part to help spread the word!
