A new study suggests that young adults with Celiac Disease may be at increased, and earlier risk of Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, and associated cardiovascular issues. This association is likely linked to chronic inflammation, and once a gluten free diet was being followed the risk seemed to lessen.

Gluten Sensitivity in Autism Different than Celiac Disease
This very technical study gets down to the nitty gritty of Gluten Sensitivity in Autism versus Celiac Disease, and suggests that the two are different. The research study looked at individuals with and without GI symptoms on the autism spectrum, as well as unaffected siblings and healthy controls. The study found particular antibody and genetic markets that vary in the Autism population from that of the Celiac Disease population, proposing that they are two distinct gluten ‘disorders’.
