Happy New Years Eve Everyone!
Below is your last news round up of the year. I wish you all a safe, fun, and happy night tonight!
2011 had so much to offer, and 2012 should be one hell of a year.
Celiact has been publishing some good articles this year, and above is the link to their top 10 (including articles on such topics as the skyrocketing rates of CD diagnosis, to information on the labeling laws).
This is not so much news, as sharing research resources. This study is seeking participants who have been gluten free for more than a year after CD diagnosis, yet are still experiencing symptoms. Check out their website for more eligibility requirements and information.
http://www.ichoosefree.com/ recently opened as one of the internet’s newest additions of gluten free product selling. Striving to change the negative perception of eating gluten free this website offers a wide variety of products and support.
In line with my recent set of posts on celiac disease and eating disorders, this research study confirms that women with CD are more likely to experience Depression and Disorganized eating. While the connection between all three has not yet been established in respect to what results in what, the rate of each is higher in women with CD. It is a very interesting article and study, touching on many of the social work topics I bring up here in regards to feelings of stigmatization, isolation and feeling ‘different’ even as an adult.
