Gluten Free goes Pro (sports that is)

I’ll share another tidbit of gluten free pop culture. The Mets have opened a gluten free food cart at Citifield. I’ve never been one for sports myself but this opportunity is great and makes me somewhat of a Mets fan… I’ve come to find, as most of us recently diagnosed with CD probably have, that eating gluten free food in an arena or public event setting (sports event, concert, bowling alley, sea world, zoos etc.) is very difficult if not almost totally impossible. We are a culture driven by glutenous food, mostly because these food are quick, simple, easy to transport, easy to freeze and cheap to manufacture. If we’re ever going to strive for full acceptance of a gluten free life style steps such as this one taken at Citi Field must occur with open arms and we must appreciate their efforts! It’ll make things so much easier in the end. I especially love this excerpt from the article:

“Dietary restrictions are a growing concern in the food industry and we have always strived to make our products available to meet all consumer needs and palates,” says Kozy Shack® CEO Bob Striano. “We’re excited to further our partnership with the Mets and offer fans a designated cart for gluten-free food products. It’s a home run for everyone.”
