Did you attend camp as a child? I sure did. For me my summers usually revolved around spending the day at camp either at a local beach or a local park on Long Island for most of my childhood. I LOVED it. I would spend my days playing kickball, making art projects, singing, taking full advantage of the ocean or playgrounds, building sand castles, and running around like a maniac. Camp was where I practiced my swimming skills, where I learned I was a bit of a tomboy, and unfortunately where I usually burned myself to a crisp when I forgot to reapply sunblock. My favorite memories though were certainly from the camp at the beach, where I spent a good 5 hours every day of the week during the summer. I recall fondly my time spent on that boardwalk with new friends, and hiding in the shade sleepy and content at the end of the day waiting for my parents to pick me up.
There’s nothing that can exhaust a kid more than a busy day outside at camp, especially when it’s a sleep away camp. Now, for a second year in a row Rudi’s Gluten Free Bakery is holding their Happy Camper Campaign, offering 20 lucky gluten free children (10 from the USA, 10 from Canada) between the ages of 8 & 17 the chance to attend a gluten free camp for one week. Could you imagine a camp free of hesitation and frustration with respect to food, and a great place to make some new memories?! PERFECT! To be entered to be one of the lucky winners Campers simply have to share, in 100 words, why they are special over at Rudi’s Facebook Page BY MARCH 18TH.
BUT as an extra bonus to my readers Rudi’s has partnered with me to help make your summer a great one full of lasting memories and gluten free sandwiches or goodies. I went to soccer camp as a kid, and loved all the people I got to meet, and the friends I made!
So great, thanks for commenting!
I went to camp once, I was never a big fan, but the best memory is seeing all of the beautiful scenery.
Learning archery. lots of fun!
I LOVE archery! So fun!
Horse back riding with my sister. It was special because it’s one of the rare occasions we saw our dad.I have a great memory about that day.
Sounds like a very cherished memory. I am happy you had that.
I never went to camp as a child. I did go to my friend’s cottage a few times when I was younger and I really remember the outhouse and trying to water ski. At the time, I was a city kid who had only lived in a small town for about a year. (Maggie K.)
i’ve never had a camp experience but would love for my child to have one- livivua
I hope they can have one too!
I remember playing capture the flag in the dark, and it being the most fun experience. It sticks with me still today as a great memory because it symbolizes a carefree spirit.
Sounds awesome Victoria, that for me is the best feeling of camp! FYI, I just emailed you because you were the winner of the giveaway so please be sure to respond with in 48 hours! Congrats!
I also never had a camp experience, but was a camp instructor for a summer! I loved seeing the friendship that evolved between 4 year olds!
Being an instructor gives you such a different perspective of camp, doesn’t it? I’ve had both experiences and they are so different even in the same environment.
