I do a lot of traveling, which means that my luggage usually includes this:
Half of this will go in my carry on, and the other half in my checked bag. The key for me is balancing sweets and savory, and including a few sources of protein. Luckily though this amount of food is usually a precaution, especially if I am flying JetBlue.
Jetblue has to be my favorite airline. They have the most leg room of any airline that I’ve traveled on, a humerous set of fight attendants, and each seat has a (usually functional) tv and radio that tells you where your flight is. Most notably howevery they have gluten free options available for not only their snacks (popcorners) but also several of their Eat Up Boxes. They have one box that is exclusively gluten free, but other boxes contain gluten free items and are good to get if you have a gluten eating counter part.
But what if you forget to pack some of your own food, or are leaving from/transferring through JFK on a JetBlue Flight? Have no fear: Their Terminal 5 has a great assortment of gluten free options:
Jamba Juice: Many of their juices and smoothies are gluten free, and they also have a variety of snacks and drinks in their cooler that are gluten free including Hail Merry macaroons and Lucy’s cookies.
New York Minute: This little NYC themed gift and snack shop is a good place to pick up some “I <3 NY’ ware, or some quick healthy gluten free items including brad’s raw chips, and more unique drinks of kombucha and milk.
The New York Times Books and News: This smaller shop carried newspapers, magazines, kettle chips, blue diamond almonds and other usual snacks such as skittles, M&Ms and more.
Outdoor ‘lounge’: Grab a breath of fresh air, and a BlueMarble ice cream while waiting for your flight. This terminal has a small little outside area complete with food ‘trucks’, tables and chairs, a few faux AstroTurf hills and a area for your pets.
Cibo express/food court: This is the largest area for food, and it has a variety of gluten free options hidden in the corner near the organic items close to the salad bar, including: Tate’s cookies, R BARS, Purely Elizabeth granola, Superfood hot cereal, Big Slice cut fruits, Hail Merry macaroons, Matt’s Munchies fruit mixes, Sensible Foods dried fruits, Keenwah clusters, Ehythm kale chips, Mary’s Gone crackers and more. If you are the type to grab food ‘buffet style’ the salad bar had a good variety of cold and hot items that were naturally gluten free.
AeroNuova: Want a quick drink before you board your flight? Stop by the bar at AeroNuova for some Angry Orchard hard cider or a Red Bridge. We didn’t eat here but they did say they can cater to gluten free needs, although they don’t have gluten free pasta.
Blue Sky Traders: Pick up a neck pillow, eye mask and some gluten free snacks here. They offer larger shareable bags of items from Popcorn Indiana and Deep River Snacks in addition to smaller ‘typical’ airport foods.
As you can see you won’t go wanting if you leave from Terminal 5, and will have a variety of gluten free options from health conscious to indulgent. Just be sure to stock up, and have a comfortable flight!
I love how easy it is to eat gluten free now! Stuff is everywhere for those that are trying to or needing to cut it out. I’ve been trying to be more strict with myself, because I definitely notice a difference!

That is great that you are feeling better! I agree, it has become so much easier to eat gluten free. Happy holidays!
I am gluten intolerant (celiac test came back negative though my cousin and grandfather have it.) this is so helpful to know about!
Glad you found it helpful!
Super helpful thank you
