Alot-o Gelato

I am a fan of frozen formed desserts, as my last post mentioned. Growing up with little money and a sweet tooth Ice cream has always been my favorite, but we all know how fattening that can become. There are so many other alternatives out there that are healthier and most recently I found, for sale no less, Talenti gelato e Sorbetto. This is what their home page says about their products, and boy is this accurate:

Now you can’t go wrong with that mind set now can you?
Having had some bad experience with gelato in the past (too pasty, too soft etc.) I was a bit hesitant to try this, however you can of course tell I was impressed.  Most importantly though? Every single one of their products, with the exception of Caramel Cookie Crunch is gluten free! Many of their products are also Vegetarian, Hormone Free, Kosher, HFCS Free AND all natural! All products are marked on the back with a circle representing each of the above items, so it is clear to understand and find what you can eat! Price wise they are about the price as a Ben and Jerry’s pint, if not a bit cheaper, when they are on sale. If only they were cheaper in general (only down side)!
So far I have tried Mediterranean Mint, Black Cherry and Double Dark Chocolate:
Mediterranean Mint is nothing like the mint flavored ice cream I have had, which seems to have more of a manufactured flavor than a mint flavor. This tastes pure and chrisp, with the chocolate adding a great flavor and texture to the creaminess.
Black Cherry is the least of the ones I have tried so far as I am not a big cherry fan. The cream gelato seems thrown off by the slimey and half frozen cherry pieces. The textures, unlike in the other two, didn’t mesh well for me.

Double Dark Chocolate was definately a chocolate lovers heaven. I am a chocolate lover on and off, and this happen to be eaten while I was! Simply delicious. Again the texture was creamy and intermingled with chocolate chunks. The two chocolates were a different flavor, one dark one milk, which also made for a delicious combination in my mind.
What really sells me on this product though is the information on their website related to using sustainable and raw products from around the world. If they’re trying to make something have a specific taste they use the real thing from where it’s grown, not some factory product. And you also have the added bonus that the containers make great left over tins!
