There is an important place in the food industry for small businesses, businesses started in kitchens by passionate individuals. I love hearing such stories, and was please when Tiny B Chocolates (one such business) reached out to me to review their Brazilian Chocolates: Brigadeiros. Tiny B:
is about the happy love story between Renata, a beautiful Brazilian chocolatier, and Andrei, a San Francisco tech entrepreneur. They fell in love, got married and started tinyB in their kitchen as a way to share their love for each other and for brigadeiros with San Francisco and the world.
Our history brings so much to the food we make, and love plays a big part in it. Renata grew up making chocolate with her mother, a history that makes her a pro at making Brigadeiros. Brigadeiros are the national chocolate treat of Brazil, at a dessert often eaten at weddings and other special occasions. There is no denying why; they are pretty fantastic. Tiny B describes them as the cousin of the truffle, although without the hard chocolate coating. They sell ten flavors, with a variety of other custom flavors made to order.
I had the opportunity to try six of their classic flavors including milk chocolate, dark chocolate, pistachio, dark chocolate almond, coconut and cream, and spicy dark chocolate. Each was delicious and distinct, with a melt on your tongue texture. My two favorite were the dark chocolate almond, and the coconut and cream. It is amazing that such detail can be put into a product, detail which allows the same ingredients to take on such distinct qualities depending on how they are incorporated. You can almost taste the dedication in each bite. The small size makes them perfect for sharing, or snacking. I found that with the bold flavors even just one was enough for a quick snack.
Tiny B Chocolate Brigadeiros are available online where you can purchase a variety of quantities, order custom gift boxes or favors, and even place a catering order. Each order is made fresh by Renata and her staff, and has a guaranteed two day shopping anywhere in the continental USA. Want to try some for yourself? Enter below to be one of THREE winners, each of whom will win a box of five brigadeiros. Go on, you know you want to enter. In the words of Tiny B “Life Happens. Chocolate Helps.” so enter away!
